Easter is here!

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Friends,

It is Easter week at Sound Life Church. I always look forward with great anticipation to the special season when we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though it is a busy time, the message is timeless, “He is Risen, He is Risen Indeed”. Please take advantage of every opportunity available to you.

The Good Friday Service will begin the celebration at 7:00 pm. It is a meaningful reflection on the cross and a celebration of Holy Communion. Our guest will be Dr. Warren Bullock, former SLC pastor, who will share with us the deep meaning of Christ’s work on Calvary. On Saturday morning Easter Eggstravaganza, Pierce County’s largest egg hunt, will again be in full swing. Over 30,000 eggs, candy, prizes, and a variety of activities will take place beginning at 9:00 am and going till noon. If at all possible, be a volunteer. We need everyone who can to be here at 7:30 am and we will pass out assignments to host the several thousand guests who will be with us. This is our gift to the community, thanks for being a part.

On Sunday we will celebrate our Risen Savior. We will have our regular service schedule at 9:30 am with Celebration Live, Traditions, and The Experience. At 11:00 am we will have Celebration Live and The Experience. In each of these services we will encourage everyone to make an impact through Convoy of Hope, “One Day to Feed the World.” This special offering will allow us to be pre-responders to crisis events around the world. Through Convoy of Hope we have helped to feed thousands of children every day, to be on the ground with relief supplies before the catastrophe happens, and to share the love of Christ with a touch of compassion. “One Day to Feed the World” is each one of us taking a day’s wage and giving it so the compassion of Jesus can be felt by those in greatest need. This is over and above our regular tithes and offerings. It is a gift that comes from our heart. The “One Day to Feed the World” offering will be taken at the end of each service. Thank you for your generous response.

Please be in prayer for each of the events this weekend. Invite your friends and family and believe God for life changing encounters.

An Investment in the Future

Monday, March 1st, 2010

It’s been awhile since I last blogged. Christmas has come and gone and we are now into the third month of 2010. Over the past several weeks the leadership team of SLC has been carefully considering how we can most effectively reach our community for Christ. The more we thought and prayed the clearer the focus became.

One of the most effective inroads into the community we have is Wired Student MInistry. They are reaching into areas that we have never been able to before. On any given Tuesday night more than 175 young people from all over this area converge on SLC to connect with each other but ultimately to God. Pastor Nate Lindseth and his team are doing an amazing work and the fruit is evident. The more we thought and prayed the more we began to ask the question, “What would happen if we were able to configure this ministry in a way that it could reach it’s full potential and what would that look like?” From that question came a solution that we believe will allow Wired to reach it’s full potential.

Over the a past 11 years our Sunday night Connection Live service has been a highlight. It is a believer’s service that that has been a strength. But Sunday is the one day of the week that the schools of this area do not schedule any activities. Though our Connection Live service is of great value to us we believe that a greater value can be gained by allowing Wired to have the entire campus for their ministry on Sunday nights. To that end the board and staff made a decision to repurpose our Sunday night service and give it to Wired. Beginning on April 11 Wired Student Ministry will meet on Sunday evening allowing it to use the entire campus to potentially reach an even greater number of students with the gospel. Our prayer is that by giving this service, which is so meaningful to us, to our students we will see God do amazing things and the impact will be more than we could ever imagine.

Over the next several weeks you will hear more about this change. Please be in prayer with us as we move forward in this effort to make in impact in South Pierce County.
